What Is Microblading?
Microblading (also known as 3D eyebrow embroidery, feather touch or feather stroking) is a semi-permanent makeup procedure that can enhance or completely reconstruct the eyebrows by implanting pigment into the top layers of the skin. The microblading artist will use a specially designed instrument that resembles a penknife to carefully draw either individual hair-like strokes or shading which can give the result of a natural-looking groomed brow, a powder-filled brow, or a combination of both, depending on your preference.
This is a two-part process since everyone’s skin is different and will hold the pigment differently. One touch up appointment after the initial healing process is complete is required for optimal results. Once you have your desired look, it should last from 1-3 years, though touch ups are recommended every 6-18 months to keep your brows looking fresh. Younger and oily skin types tend to fade faster than mature and dry skin types.
Microblading and body tattooing are different techniques and each requires specific training to learn. Your tattoo artist won’t learn microblading during their training and your microblading artist won’t learn body tattooing during their training.
Some artists have taken the time to learn both arts, but most specialize only in one!
